Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on base or you can live off base. If you live off base, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.

You can contact the housing office at 406-731-3660. Please keep in mind that there is a process involved in renting on Base housing to include wait times.

Malmstrom Air Force Base is home to the 341st Missile Wing of the Air Force Global Strike Command and the 43rd Refueling Wing. The base is located near Great Falls, Montana and is one of three bases that maintain the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles. Upon arrival at the base, military personnel are instructed to contact the housing office for all on-post and off-post residence availability. An application on DD Form 1746 is required to be submitted through the Housing Office which can be reached at #406-731-3056. The housing office can offer a list of homes for sale or rent off post as well as determine the basic allowance for housing that may be available to help with rent and utilities. Most quarters are equipped with a dishwasher, refrigerator, garbage disposal, and washer/dryer hookups. Special housing units have been set aside for Exceptional Family Member and Handicapped individuals.
Temporary lodging off post is somewhat limited and two weeks extensions are the normal approved length of time for personnel to stay. Contact the Malmstrom Inn at #406-727-8600 lodging office 24 hours a day. If 30 days can be approved, only a 10 day stay will be reimbursed. The Great Falls school district is comprised of 15 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 2 high schools. There is an alternative high school and one college of technology as well. All children residing on base will attend Loy Elementary, and all middles school children will attend North Middle School. All high school children living on base will attend Charles M. Russell High School. There are no schools located on base at this time. For university or college information, contact the base Education Center.
